Women Harassment is one of the biggest problems faced by women today in different sectors of life. We rarely pass through a week without a reminder of these kinds of incidents which should be termed as Social Problems.

 

In order to combat the growing issue of Women Harassment in the country new laws, policies and measures have been adopted. The definition of Women Harassment varies from person to person and from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The definition of women harassment in simple words refers to “any unwanted or inappropriate harassment including touching, looking, commenting, sexual harassment, emotional harassment etc.

 

The constitution of India not only grants equality to women but also empowers the state to adopt measures for neutralizing the cumulative socioeconomic, educational and political disadvantages faced by women. Fundamental Rights ensure equality before the law and prohibits discrimination against any citizen on grounds of religion, caste, sex or place of birth and guarantees equality of opportunity to all citizens in matters relating to employment. Article 14, 15, 15(3), 16, 39A, 39B, 39C and 42 of the Constitution specifically deals in a matter pertaining to women rights and equality.
